In 1998, about a
week before Christmas, my 4 year old daughter had a very specific request
for Santa. Her favorite bedtime companion was a stuffed toy, a furry
white kitten with long silky white fur, turquoise eyes, and a little pink
nose. More than any thing she wanted a REAL white fluffy kitten with green
eyes, and a little pink nose. A different kitten would just not be the
same….it had to look just like the toy she loved so much. Such a simple
request……..and seemed just about impossible to find.
A long search for
the perfect kitten!! That was exactly right. The only cat that could fit
the bill was a Silver Persian, and it took many e-mails and calls, before
we found our Tinkerbell, a beautiful silver in Massachusetts. Once
Tinkerbell arrived, a sweet fluffy white ball of fur with big green eyes,
we were hooked on the gorgeous silver Persians, and the dream of breeding
these beautiful silvers took hold.
The name, Kelsemi
is the combination of the names of my children. Kelsey & Michael.
Registered with the CFA in 1999 the cattery name was modified to Kelsemi-Kats
when we became registered with the ACFA in 2002.
It was important
to us that we breed strong healthy cats, and we made a decision early in
our program to work towards genetic diversity in our breeding. So every
effort has been made to obtain top quality silvers from different
backgrounds to avoid inbreeding, and thus ensure the strength and vitality
of our lines. None of this would have been possible with out the help of 2
very special friends, who were kind enough to share their lines and their
knowledge with me. So it is with heartfelt gratitude that I will mention
Penny Robinson, owner of La Gemini cattery in Texas and Diane Loving, the
owner of All Aglitter cattery in Florida.
Please take a look
at our guys and gals, but first a quick peek at my daughters
Tinkerbell.
